Wasps Nest in Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire has seen a relatively early start this year which is somewhat surprising given the somewhat cold (weather of this last winter|winter of 2009/10}.

Pest and vermin operatives were kept working with the usual city centre rodent problems during the winter of 2009/10, but the relatively cold late winter has already seen ant infestation reported.

The damp summers of the last few years were not to the liking of the hymenoptera (wasps, bees and ants) but this year looks like it will turn out to be a hectic year for flying ant calls.

Regularly ants build nests under the floors of houses and inside cavity walls causing a lot of foraging ants to enter food store areas.

However it is at mating time when they are at their most troublesome as they create winged males and queens which then mate on the wing.

The release of several thousands of these winged ants inside houses can be horrific in the extreme.

A relatively new pest was especially prevalant in the Cheshire, Lancashire and Manchester area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was not common for pest operatives in Cheshire, Lancashire and Manchester to encounter these pests until recent times but they seemed to arrive from nowhere in 2008 and already this March has seen sightings of these beetles in large numbers.

These insects have a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, known as woolly bears can eat natural fibres and can do substantial damage to carpets and some fabrics. They can be a difficult and persistent pest to get rid of.

Those who work in in Wasps Nest have noted that Bed Bugs are continuing their renaissance in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area, frequently arriving as unwanted guests in the suitcases of returning travellers.

Very often the initial reaction of those unlucky ones who realise that they have been infested with these horrible,blood-sucking creatures is to burn the old beds and get.

This can be a costly error as despite their name bed bugs do not just stay in beds and in an infested bedroom will be found anywhere within up to five yards of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical and telephone sockets and the new beds will be instantly re-infested.

Many people mistake bed bugs with dust mites which cannot be seen by the naked eye. They both take a different form of Wasps Nest.

They dine only on blood which they drink from their sleeping hosts. People regularly associate bed bugs with dirty conditions but nothing could be less accurate, they do not need grime, their food is you!

Up to April 30th 2010 Trafford & Gatley Wasps Nest are offering a twenty-five percent discount on their three year guaranteed ant prevention treatment.

The revolutionary treatment which we guarantee for three years, extendable indefinitely in additional three year chunks by a low cost re-treatment every three years, can be performed in most houses subject to satisfactory free site survey
